Professional Outplacement Services

When companies undergo reorganization resulting in elimination of positions, outplacement services can greatly reduce the anguish of the employee and improve the perception of the company in the community. This applies equally to management, professional and hourly workers.

When companies find it necessary to make a reduction in force, outplacement services can greatly reduce the trauma to displaced employees, as well as to employees who are remaining with the organization. Knowing that a company has provided outplacement services speaks volumes about the philosophy of the organization and the values it places on its human resources.

Outplacement counseling is equally beneficial to management, professional and hourly workers. Benefits for both employees and company include:

  • Displaced employees gain a greater sense of confidence in their ability to successfully manage their career transition.

  • Remaining employees see their company as one who will provide the necessary support should their employment also become subject to termination, thereby improving overall morale.

  • Employees who feel they have "axes to grind" are less likely to seek counsel for these isssues if they quickly focus on the future and finding their next place of employment.

  • Companies retain a positive image in the community when they provide support to their exiting employees.

Because TMA recognizes the value of these services, we have developed specific programs for all employee classifications - Hourly, Administrative, Technical, Professional, Managerial and Executive.

Our Career Transition Programs provide the following features with a focus on developing life-long skills in personal career management:

  • Training and coaching managers to properly handle termination meetings for the best possible results

  • On-site counseling and program orientation for affected employee(s) on the day of notification

  • Counseling and guidance in dealing with the stress and emotional impact of job loss

  • Job Search Skills and Workshops

  • Resume Development - 50 copies of final resume laser printed on high quality bond, plus electronic copy

  • Coaching candidates in finding suitable new employment as quickly as possible. The process includes core competency and strengths assessment, value awareness, career guidance, effective resume and cover letter format, professional telephone and follow-up techniques, successful networking, interviewing and negotiating strategies

  • Ongoing counseling, accountability and support for the appropriate period of service selected by the company
